1. Overview
EmojiFYI respects your privacy. This policy describes what data we collect and how we use it. The short version: we collect minimal data and don't sell anything to anyone.
2. Data We Collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 collects anonymized usage data including pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region. We do not enable Google's advertising features or user-ID tracking.
Server Logs
Our servers automatically log HTTP requests including IP addresses, user agents, and request URLs. These logs are used for security monitoring and debugging. Logs are retained for 90 days and then deleted.
Local Storage
The site uses your browser's local storage to save:
- Dark/light mode preference
- Recently copied emoji in the Emoji Keyboard tool
This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
3. Data We Don't Collect
- We don't require accounts or collect personal information
- We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
- We don't share data with third parties (except Google Analytics as described above)
- We don't track individual users across sessions
4. API Privacy
The EmojiFYI API does not require authentication. API requests are logged for rate-limiting and abuse prevention purposes only.
5. Cookies
EmojiFYI itself does not set cookies. Google Analytics may set cookies as described in Google's cookie policy. The Django framework sets a CSRF cookie for form security and a language preference cookie if you switch languages.
6. Changes
We may update this privacy policy as our practices evolve. The effective date at the top will reflect any changes.
